5th PCE Europe Symposium 21st - 24th September 2023, Athens Greece

PCE Europe and the Hellenic Focusing Center invite you to Athens, Greece, from 21st - 24th September 2023 for the 5th PCE Europe Symposium to celebrate in person and online  25 years of PCE Europe, and explore the theme of:

Welcoming Polyphony in a Changing World

Ιn a changing world, in a state of crisis, norms and language can’t possibly mean the same as they used to; hence polyphony prevails, both in the ‘outer’ and in the ‘inner’ world, since everyone has, or should have, a voice.

There are so many voices to be listened to, thought about, responded to.

  • Are these voices interchangeable?
  • Is there still a dialogue in process?
  • Can we be congruent with both the ‘outer’ and ‘inner’ voices?
  • Can we hear and include societal voices within a ‘protected’ psychotherapy practice?

Location   Athens, Greece

The Ionic Centre is located in a neo-classical style building in Plaka, minutes’ walk from the walls of the Acropolis and the Parthenon. Next to the Aerides, the Tower of the Winds, Hadrian’s Library and the Roman period Agora, The Ionic Centre is surrounded by monuments and public buildings of the city.

Keynote Speakers

Manu Bazzano:   In Praise of Pandemonium – A polyphonic, contrapuntal perspective on the notion of the organism in experiential psychotherapies and beyond

Jo Hilton:   A look at how counselling theory has influenced our engagement with polyphony

Maria Malikiosi-Loizos:   Can we be congruent both with the outer and inner voices in an era of polyphony?
