Harmony Institute continues its tradition of annual international conferences. This year we invite you to take part in Second International Conference “Self and Other: the Sacred Space for Dialogue”.

Since 1993 we have held fifteen conferences on Conflict Resolution and ten conferences on Creativity, hosting thousands of people from dozens of countries.

Our conferences have always been a place for people from different countries, cultures, and professional disciplines to meet and share their personal and professional experiences. The diversity that has been a central feature of our conferences mirrors the diversity that is central to the modern world, which encompasses all strands of our social, professional and private life. Encountering 'the Other' (in its many forms) is a common reality of our world, and such encounters often lead to complex circumstances and difficult feelings.

To directly explore these issues, this year our conference theme is Diversity, Difference, and Otherness. We will create a safe space where, together, we can study our relationships to Difference, practice meeting Diversity, and learn to be with the Other, in dialogue and with presence.

All those who are touched by this topic, people of all ages and of all ethnic, religious, professional and national backgrounds, are invited to take part in our conference. Your participation will help us to give everyone present the opportunity to share knowledge and experiences of how to meet, work with, and benefit from encounters with differences and diversity. We hope that the formal and informal events and meetings of this conference will enrich you professionally and personally and open up new prospects for cooperation and friendship.

This conference will be of interest to a very wide group of specialists including social workers, psychologists, psychotherapists, medical doctors and nurses, teachers, philosophers, social and political scientists, conflict resolution specialists, and organizational managers and business men and women, as well as university students and children who are interested in the challenges and joys of human coexistence in the modern world.

Our Conference will provide many learning opportunities for participants to gain practical skills and knowledge to use in their professional fields. The formal program of the conference includes dozens of seminars, workshops, and roundtables addressing practical issues of working with diversity in interpersonal conflicts, education, creativity, and organizational development, as well as in global political, ecological and spiritual contexts. Participants will be presented with a wide variety of topics and learning methodologies and will have a choice of four or five workshops and seminars during each conference time period.

Our multidisciplinary approach will enable everyone to find various fields of interest, to meet like-minded (and different-minded) people, and to establish new professional links and make new friends. We hold our Conference in an out-of-town hotel to create a community-building atmosphere, so that people can really meet and experience a nurturing ground for personal and professional growth. In addition to the officially planned workshops and trainings there are many spontaneous, unplanned discussions where participants continue together to explore issues that emerge during the conference.

This conference is meant for those who are passionate about personal, communal, and global growth. If the prospect of joining with a diverse group of people to explore and experience various ways of meeting the challenges and opportunities of Diversity, Difference, and Otherness, we welcome you to our Conference in April 29 – May
